Who’s Who?
October 29, 2009
Who’s who in the political world. Recently while watching a popular TV news outlet I noticed how many people were on the show. A panel here. A panel there. Then some other random person with no introduction. With all the faces introduced to you it’s hard to know who really is credible.
However sometimes you can tell just by thinking. At one point they had a former executive talking about a medical issue and the caption read “former executive 2003-2004″. I thought, “why did they take his opinion he’s not the director now he was the director five years ago!” So why did they take his opinion? They took his opinion because they liked his opinion. True bias.
Separation of Church and State
October 28, 2009
Separation of church and state is a hard thing for people to grasp especially when it comes down to matters concerning gay rights, abortion, or evolution taught in schools. Many people of the Christian religion think those things are wrong to have in the United States. However is the question do you think it is wrong, or is the question does the government have the right over its people to restrict who you can marry, what can be taught, or what a mother does with her new-born? Everyone has a right to their own opinion but should the government be able to put restrictions such as those on its people? Isn’t that “Big Government”?
Some Christians will say that talk about opening up the world to abortions, gays, and evolution, is one more step towards “doom”. There are cases in bible when events such as when homosexuals are mixed into society to the point that God punishes the nation. However, as Christians this means you should be going to anti-gay protest riots where they storm out into the streets yelling for all gays to “face judgement”. “Only God judges me”. Only God.
How do you separate Church and State? By separating your opinions. You can have Christian morals and say abortions are wrong yet still support a bill allowing it, because the question is “does the government have the right to take that right away?”. You can have Christian morals and support gay rights. You can have Christian morals and still be open to change. You can have Christian morals and support living in a world of more civil liberties.
